Thailand ~ Pai to Koh Phi Phi

Thailand ~ Pai to Koh Phi Phi

I just returned from Thailand !!!

I have been in Thailand with my daughter Jessica the past few weeks. She found a funky little village called Pai, about 140 km north of Chang Mai, and less than 2 hours from the Burmese border, in the northeast corner of the country.

Pai is in a valley surrounded on all sides by mountains – the view in any direction is spectacular !

Jess got me out on a 20 km mountain bike ride around the valley and just about killed me – going downhill was fun, but uphill was the killer…..d92590a8-51e2-4004-bc01-7f74e80de488

The road to get there is another matter !

In the last 70 km of the ride over the mountain pass there are 762 curves in the road – I bought the T-shirt !

Please excuse the guys’ language when you watch the video – I have one just like his but I didn’t know how to upload it to Youtube.

Halfway through the mountains they stop for a food/bathroom break, and look at the bottom sign posted on the front of the restaurant – I guess they have had a lot of casualties !

Then we flew down to southern Thailand to an island called Koh Pi Pi – it is the island where they filmed that movie with Leonardo Di Caprio called “The Beach” – recognize it ???

And we met up with my son Max and his girlfriend Oksana and spent a few days island hopping to incredible white sand beaches with aquamarine crystal water and spectacular sunsets.

From incredible scuba diving and snorkeling to visiting “James Bond” island; from mountain biking to relaxing under an umbrella on the beach; from sampling the local cuisine (Pad Thai is a must!) to indulging in a 2 hours massage for about $6 – there was a plethora of adventure and relaxation for everyone.
