Kenya – On Safari & the Orphanages

Kenya – On Safari & the Orphanages

Skies Over Africa

I just got back from an amazing adventure in Kenya and what a trip ! It was my mum’s dream to go and feed starving children and the had the trip of a lifetime. A friend of mine once told me that once you have experienced Africa, you will always recognize an “African Sky”

Kenya Photo Safari

This trip was like being in a National Geographic movie – we sat at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro just before sunset and watched as 109 elephants came right towards our vehicle and parted to pass us by on both sides.

We got chased by a ferocious black rhinoceros because we got too close to his territory, kissed on the lips by a giraffe, saw a pride of lions chase down a wildebeest, went hot air ballooning at dawn over the Serengeti and so much more – it is really an experience you have to see to believe !

Seeing the Big 5 in Kenya was a trip of a Lifetime !

We have no idea how lucky we are…

There are millions of orphans in need in Kenya. For $30 a month you can save a child’s life – for the price you pay for a Starbucks coffee on your way to work each week, and it is the difference between life and death for these poor babies and children.

We extended out trip and while in Kenya we visited my friend Kathy, who has a ministry and feeding program, and spent time at several orphanages. There are millions of orphans throughout Kenya due to AIDS, and especially up in Eldoret, there are thousands of homeless orphans, abandoned in the IDP camps due to the Clashes last year.

It is hard for me to listen to people complain about their “First World Problems” when the challenge of finding water and food is a daily struggle for so many…
